3 horses killed, 3 residents survive in fire at Muddy Brook Farm in Amherst


AT WWLP.COM ANC: NEW VIDEO TONIGHT OF THE CLEANUP EFFORTS FOLLOWING A FIRE IN AMHERST THAT KILLED THREE HORSES. AMHERST FIRE DEPARTMENT CHIEF TIM NELSON TOLD 22NEWS THAT JUST BEFORE SIX O’CLOCK THIS MORNING, CREWS WERE CALLED TO MUDDY BROOK FARM FOR A FIRE. A MULTI-USE BUILDING ON THE PROPERTY WAS ON FIRE. IT WAS USED AS A WORKSHOP AND FOR RESIDENT HOUSING, AS WELL AS A HOME FOR THE HORSES. THREE PEOPLE WERE WOKEN UP BY SMOKE ALARMS AND ESCAPED THE FIRE. ONE WAS TREATED FOR SMOKE INHALATION. THE CAUSE IS STILL NOT KNOWN BUT IT IS NOT CONSIDERED SUSPICIOUS.
